The Centre of Excellence in Localised Applications, also called the “LAKapps Centre” (www.lakapps.lk), University of Moratuwa is a pioneer in the field of software Localisation into Sinhala and Tamil. In addition to software Localisation, content Localisation, local language content development and training on local language computing are also undertaken by this centre.

One of the pioneering Project of Centre of Excellence on Localised Application, University of Moratuwa is to create awareness and facilitate the use of Local Language computing among schools and general public. It has been decided to conduct this kind of awareness program all around the Sri Lanka. Last year this was conducted in the Eastern Province which was concluded very successfully culminating with a web design competition among the participants mainly from schools and also Nanasala.

Presently this program is conducting in Colombo and Jaffna districts.
